Our school joins the phonics programme – Read Write Inc.
RWI is integrated into the Primary One to Three Curriculum.
The programme familiarizes children with the 44 pure sounds and teaches them the skills of sounds blending and segmenting, in order to build a solid foundation of English pronunciation.
Each pure sound is represented with a letter and/or a particular group of letters such as ‘a’, ‘i’, ‘ch’, ‘th’ and ‘se’. By blending these pure sounds, children will be able to pronounce English words correctly. Once your child has mastered the 44 pure sounds and the skills of how to blend and segment them, he/she will be able to spell and pronounce English words at speed, accurately and without difficulty.
